The Gift That Keeps On Giving!

Thinking back, I would say in my twenty-seven years on Earth my greatest weakness has been my mind.

Sure, my brain does the most at the face of a test or exam and in remembering people’s names but it has its shortcomings. A big one being overthinking; creating scenarios in my head that might not/ will not happen, yet finding myself so fixated on these toxic *yes I said it* thoughts.

Something that I recently experienced is that the mind will wander off as deep as you allow it to. You will find yourself in this sunken place where everything is black and white, where feelings go to die and where you slowly lose yourself. Let me tell you something, the devil will lead you by the hand to that valley of death because that is what he is good at; to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10) your joy, vision and ultimately your life.

I remember this other day, I was in the shower and my mind was being attacked by thoughts from the enemy (negative thoughts) and the Holy spirit was interceding on my behalf, stating the Truth (what God says about me) against these accusations that the enemy was bringing. I remember getting so frustrated with these negative thoughts because I genuinely just wanted to enjoy my life but then it dawned on me that the devil would never stop until he meets his end and I have to change my manner of approach. My biggest mistake was I would only go running to the Lord when these attacks would creep in.

God isn’t and shouldn’t be just a crutch to us that we whip out everytime the enemy attacks, but He should be our entire being, our walking, our coming, our going, our working, our talking, our thinking, our living. In choosing that righteous living the enemy’s accusations are thrown out the window anytime they try sneaking up on us.

We have to consciously choose the Lord every day,  God is our everything, as Paul says “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” Galatians 2:20.

Which is how we too should live. We were born for the Holy Spirit to live in us. We are the branches and He is the true vine (John 15:1), without Him, we are running on empty. If your willpower is out of this world, trust me you are still running on empty because you will not produce the fruits of the spirit by walking in your own self-righteousness. We were born to glorify God and enjoy ourselves while doing it.

✝️Our relationship with God is a gift that keeps on giving. Praising and worshipping Him doesn’t only make our Father joyful, it in turn makes us joyful, for in us is the Lord. He said let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness (Genesis 1:26); meaning in us there is God, an everlasting eternal connection that needs to be fed. Therefore, renew your mind, take care of yourself; your true self, your inner-man that hungers and thirsts for spiritual food. He needs a whole lotta Jesus and when your inner man thrives, honey you are thriving!

God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Till next Tuesday!
